Making digital education fun, we foster Computational Thinking skills using activities from 3D to coding and robotics to all students at AEVP.

This project is carried by a teacher from AE Venda do Pinheiro, partnering with fellow colleagues from the school, especially librarian teachers, as well as fablabs, teacher’s associations, professional development centers, to develop practical activities, workshops and demos.

We’re all about making digital education fun, and enhancing digital skills with equality in mind. We work with a wide range of technologies: 3D modeling, printing and scanning; coding; boards and robotics; AI and XR. Most of our activities are in ICT class, and we also work with primary school teachers from our schools. We’re inveterate sharers. We love to pack our stuff in the trunk of the car and go to other schools to do activities with teachers and students, and give open workshops at Lab Aberto Fablab.

Our focus is in devolping introductory level, creative digital experiences for our pupils, enabling all to understand the power of technology in class (ICT, interdisciplinary projects), as well as creating space for more advanced studens to freely develop their skill in a coding and robotics club. We’re also focused in the movement to elevate digital skills accross Portugal, belonging to a community of innovative teachers led by ANPRI, our national informatics teachers association.

Within ICT class, we work with coding and robotics to execute the national programme, challenging our students to experiment whithin the confines of the curriculum. In the robotics club, we have a open space for all to experiment with their favourite technologies – doing something is the only rule. In primary school activities, we bring coding and robotics experiences using materials that our primary school teachers do not have either the time or the availability to work with (we do this in partnership with our school’s librarian teacher). We try to bring this spirit to workshops, teacher professional development courses and showcases.
